The Chinese School of Greater Kansas City Celebrates the Year of the Horse 大堪薩斯市中文學校歡慶馬年新春

Kansas City, MO — March 1, 2026 — The Chinese School of Greater Kansas City joyfully welcomed current and prospective families to its annual Lunar New Year Celebration on Sunday, March 1, ushering in the Year of the Horse with an afternoon of performances, cultural activities, and raffle fun.

Held at Notre Dame de Sion High School, the event was coordinated and led by our amazing Parent-Teacher Chair, Ms. Becky. It brought together school families and community volunteers for one of the year’s most anticipated cultural programs, reflecting the school’s commitment to incorporating Chinese language learning with cultural appreciation in the greater Kansas City area.

The celebration began with a social gathering and raffle sales before guests moved to the gym for opening remarks and performances. Board Chair Dr. Sam Yang delivered a warm, bilingual welcoming speech, followed by showcases from our talented students, teachers, and even a parent. Highlights included vocal performances by Ms. Sophia Zhen and Mr. Tim Tosh, energetic Fusion Dance numbers, a Taekwondo demonstration, and lively Chinese yo-yo (diabolo) acts by students and instructors—each drawing enthusiastic applause and celebrating cultural pride.

Families then enjoyed hands-on Cultural Experience Activities throughout the gym and hallways, including air-dry clay crafts, chopstick games, cup stacking, Go Board game, Gobang (Five-in-a-Row), paper cutting, rubbing art, calligraphy wish cards, fortune sticks, zodiac crafts, New Year card stamping, and mask and fan coloring. A special Year of the Horse craft was sponsored by the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. The interactive stations engaged participants of all ages and highlighted traditions that connect generations.

The afternoon concluded with raffle drawings and a grand prize giveaway. School leaders expressed gratitude to families, volunteers, the Overseas Community Affairs Council (R.O.C. Taiwan), the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Denver, and community partners including Magic Noodle, Bubblecup Tea Zone, Hamu Bakery, and Pan-Asia Supermarket.

As the Year of the Horse begins, the school community shared wishes of prosperity, peace, and joy, continuing its mission to strengthen cultural connections and welcome new students across the Kansas City region.

密蘇里州堪薩斯市 — 2026年3月1日 — 大堪薩斯市中文學校於3月1日（星期日）隆重舉辦一年一度的新春慶祝活動，熱情迎接現有及有意加入的家庭，共同歡慶馬年的到來。當天下午活動內容豐富，包括精彩表演、多元文化體驗活動及趣味抽獎，現場洋溢著歡樂氣氛。

本次活動於Notre Dame de Sion 高中舉行，由我們優秀的家長會會長Becky 小姐領導統籌安排。活動匯聚了學校家庭與社區志工，共同參與這場年度最受期待的文化盛事之一，展現學校在大堪薩斯市地區致力於融合中文教學與文化傳承的教育理念。

活動首先以社交聯誼及義賣抽獎券揭開序幕，隨後來賓移步至體育館參加開幕儀式與精彩演出。董事長楊醫師以中英文雙語致歡迎詞，溫馨揭開序幕。接著由本校才華洋溢的學生、老師，甚至家長帶來多元表演。節目亮點包括曾老師獻唱恭喜發財與 Tim Tosh 先生的茉莉花民歌演唱、Fusion Dance 團隊充滿活力的舞蹈表演、跆拳道示範，以及師生同台演出的扯鈴表演，場場贏得熱烈掌聲，展現學生自信與文化感招力。

隨後，家庭們參與各式文化體驗活動，包括風乾黏土手作、筷子遊戲、疊杯、圍棋、五子棋、剪紙、拓印藝術、書法許願卡、求籤、十二生肖手作、新年卡蓋章，以及面具與扇子彩繪等。其中，「馬年主題手作」由 Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art 贊助支持。豐富的互動體驗讓不同年齡層的參與者都能親身感受傳統文化。

活動最後以抽獎及大獎頒發圓滿落幕。校方特別感謝所有家庭與志工的熱心支持，以及台灣僑務委員會、駐丹佛台北經濟文化辦事處，和贊助廠商 Magic Noodle、Bubblecup Tea Zone、Hamu Bakery 及 Pan-Asia Supermarket 等單位的大力贊助。
