Back-to-School Community Gatherings: From Picnic in the Park to Popsicles with Parents 🌿🍧

Each year before the start of a new school year, the Chinese School of Greater Kansas City hosts welcoming community gatherings that bring together students, families, teachers, staff, and board members. These events provide a relaxed opportunity to reconnect, meet new friends, and begin the school year together.

One of our favorite traditions is the annual Back-to-School Picnic at the park. Students and families gather to enjoy food, games, and time outdoors while connecting with teachers, school staff, board members, and other families. For new families, it is also a wonderful opportunity to get to know our school community and experience the welcoming spirit of our school.

This year, the school also welcomed families through our Popsicle with Parents gathering. Parents had a chance to enjoy a cool treat, chat with teachers and other families, and share a few relaxed moments together during the beginning of the school year. Something as simple as sharing a popsicle created opportunities for conversation and connection.

These gatherings are more than just back-to-school events. They reflect what we value as a school community—connection, friendship, and a sense of belonging. Whether returning families or those joining us for the first time, we hope everyone feels welcomed and knows that they are an important part of our Chinese School family.

開學聯誼活動：從公園野餐到家長共享冰棒

每年新學期開始前，大堪薩斯市中文學校（Chinese School of Greater Kansas City） 都會舉辦一系列溫馨的開學前聯誼活動，讓學生、家長、老師、學校同仁及董事們在輕鬆愉快的氣氛中彼此認識、交流，為新學年揭開美好的序幕。

其中，年度的開學前野餐（Back-to-School Picnic） 是大家最期待的活動之一。學校邀請學生與家庭齊聚公園，讓孩子們一起遊戲、認識新朋友，也讓家長有機會與老師、學校同仁及其他家庭聊天交流。對新加入的家庭而言，這也是認識學校社群、感受學校溫暖氛圍的好機會。

除了野餐活動，今年學校也透過 Popsicle with Parents 活動，讓家長們在學校開學期間有更多機會停下腳步、享用冰棒、彼此交流。簡單的一根冰棒，卻創造了許多自然互動的時刻，也讓家長有機會與老師及其他家庭建立連結。

這些活動不只是開學前的聚會，更是學校重視社群、連結與歸屬感的體現。我們希望每一位學生與家庭，無論是熟悉的老朋友或剛加入的新成員，都能感受到自己是中文學校大家庭的一份子。
